Vandana Rajwani

Vandana is a practising barrister in Hong Kong. She was called to the Bar of England and Wales at Lincoln’s Inn in 1996 and admitted to the Bar in Hong Kong in 1997.

She is a Senior Teaching Consultant with the Department of Professional Legal Education at the University of Hong Kong, where she has taught Civil, Criminal and Trial Advocacy, Professional Practice and Criminal Litigation.  In 2014 she received the Faculty Outstanding Teaching Award at the University.  She is involved in the redesign and ongoing reform of the PCLL course for entrants to the legal professions and was responsible for the re-introduction of training in Trial Advocacy on the PCLL programme.

Vandana has been trained in the teaching of trial advocacy by The Middle Temple (England), The National Institute for Trial Advocacy (USA), The Australian Advocacy Institute and the Advocacy Training Council (England).  She is the Co-ordinator of LSSAC – Law Society Structured Advocacy Course, a twelve module programme consisting of workshops on oral and written advocacy, procedure, evidence and professional conduct in Hong Kong.

Vandana currently holds the following positions: -

  • Examining Panel Higher Rights of Audience
  • Examiner for Hong Kong Bar Association Qualification Examinations,
  • Presenter for Hong Kong Bar Association Advanced Legal Education Programme
  • Board of Governors - Hong Kong Advocacy Institute
  • Committee Member of the Committee on the Promotion of Racial Harmony, Hong Kong and Constitutional Affairs (formerly Home Affairs Bureau).

In 2005 Vandana was awarded a commendation by the Secretary of Home Affairs, HKSAR Government for her distinguished service in the community and in 2010 she was awarded the Chief Executive's Commendation for Community Service.
