John Levack

John entered the private equity industry in 1982 when he joined 3i plc in England. He has worked in a number of roles in Asia since 1990 and has been Asia Managing Director Hong Kong of Electra Partners since 2000.

John has been Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Venture Capital & Private Equity Association since 2010 and an Executive Committee member since 2006. He chairs the Education Committee, established and chairs the Technical Committee and is a member of the External and Public Affairs Committee. He leads an initiative to develop Hong Kong as an onshore fund hub.

John is a Member of the Financial Services Development Council (New Business Committee), a body established by the Government of Hong Kong in 2013 which comprises 58 individuals selected from diverse parts of the financial sector to advise the Chief Executive of Hong Kong on improvements needed for the financial sector strategy in Hong Kong.

John has been a guest lecturer to the MBA programmes of HK University of Science & Technology and University of San Diego. He has developed and lectured on a Private Equity course with the University of Hong Kong Faculty of Business. He lectures on private equity on the HKVCA Fundamentals of Private Equity course and for the Institute of Asian Private Equity Investment and has spoken at a number of private equity conferences.
