David teaches and coaches corporate executives, lawyers and entrepreneurs in the areas of investment, wealth management, finance, accounting and Hong Kong SFC regulatory exams.
After completing his first degree in Accounting and Computer Science, David trained and qualified as a Scottish Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young. After spells as an auditor in the Middle East and Japan, he moved to Hong Kong in 1988 to develop Ernst & Young’s client training capabilities. This was followed by a 3-year spell as a management consultant helping clients with strategy and business process re-engineering.
He started teaching Finance and Accounting for Non-Financial Executives in 1989 when he headed up Ernst and Young’s client training team. For the last twenty-five years David has taught a bi-annual 2-day Finance Workshop for the Jardine Matheson Group.
David completed his MBA at Cranfield School of Management in 1987, became a CFA Charterholder in 2000, completed his PhD with the University of South Australia in 2008 and completed the Diploma in International Trust Management (STEP) in 2012. In 2013, David became one of the first Hong Kong candidates to be awarded the Claritas Investment Certificate.
